Mahakala
Retreat (Feb 24, 25, 26, 27)
It has been the tradition in Tibet to celebrate Losar (New Year) by performing a long Mahakala puja for several consecutive days towards the end of the
year. This practice is to dispel obstacles of the old year and to create auspicious
conditions for the New Year. This year, we will have a Mahakala retreat for
4 consecutive days. Chilu will be added on Saturday. Chi Lu is a special puja to make offerings to
the representative of our creditors of whatever they want in exchange for our debts of the
obstacles of shortened life. This way, we can
get away from untimely death.
Those who wish to attend the
ceremony need to register in advance. Donations
are welcome in the
form of food, and money to sponsor this retreat.
It
will be good if you bring your fingernails, hair, some money coin and knit some dough at
the center which will be offered during the puja. This
will establish connection with your debt and will guarantee you not to be harmed. If you cannot attend the chanting in person, you
can make
the above arrangement and send your donation along with your
name to be included in the prayers.
