| Shri Tsering Dorjee
Shri Tsering Dorjee is a fully ordained monk. His family
followed both Nyingma and Kagyu Buddhist tradition. His father, Shri Karma Gelak Gyalsey
Tshang came from Ngachen region of Kham in Tibet while his mother is related to Lama Tashi
Dondups family. Shri Tsering Dorjee was born in Bhutan in 1974. His father died when
he was 5 years old. He followed his mother to relocate to Dheradun, India in 1982.
With the grace and blessing of H.H. Dalai Lama, Shri Tsering
Dorjee was given the opportunity to complete his primary and high school education through
the assistance of the Tibetan Homes Foundation School of the Tibetan government in exile
in Mussoorie in UA, India.
He attended the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies
(CIHTS-Deemed University affiliated under the UGC of India) Sarnath, Varanasi, India in
1996. He attained his Shastri degree (Bachelor degree) in Buddhist Philosophy and Tibetan
Studies in 2003.
During his years of university education, Shri Tsering Dorjee
served in the capacity as the General Secretary to Nyingmapa Students Welfare Fund
Committee for a year and later as the General Secretary to Students Welfare Fund
Committee until March 2003.
He took up the position as a contract translator at the
Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA) in Dharmasala, Centre for Tibetan Studies
after his graduation in September 2003. At the end of his contract, he was offered the
position as Assistant Researcher at LTWAs Research and Translation Department in
February 2004. He remained in this position until January 2006. His job responsibilities
included giving teachings on Tibetan language, translating lectures on Buddhist philosophy
and giving guidance to students in their research on Buddhist and Tibetan language. Apart
from holding his job, Shri Tsering Dorjee was able to complete Achrya degree (Master
degree) by correspondence in 2005.
