| Other Member Services The following services are conveniently included in your
membership.
Follow-up calls
or letters
Your Private Lawyer may write a follow-up letter or
make a call on your behalf. This service is provided to you at no additional cost in cases
where the Private Lawyer feels the matter will be resolved by this action.
Information on warranties
You can obtain legal advice on product warranties.
For instance, if you encounter a problem with a manufacturer that refuses to stand behind
a product, you may contact your Private Lawyer for legal counsel on this matter.
Advice on
governmental procedures
Laws can be complicated and you could make your
situation worse if you dont understand your rights and the procedures to follow.
Call for information on your rights and obligations.
Review of documents and contracts
Before signing any documents or contracts relating
to personal matters or if you have questions on any document or contract, you can have a
Private Lawyer review them to explain their meaning and suggest changes. This applies to
documents of up to four pages in length and does not include a written analysis of any
document. All you need to do is mail or fax the documents to your Private Lawyer.
Document
preparation
Your Private Lawyer can prepare the
following documents for you:
Simple Deed: used to transfer land or
real property between family Members in a transaction where no money is exchanged.
Promissory Note: a simple agreement
between private parties where one person agrees to pay a sum of money to another in
exchange for a promise of repayment.
Power of Attorney for Property or
Personal Care: a Power of Attorney for property gives another person the authority to act
on your behalf with regard to property you own. A Power of Attorney for personal care
appoints someone to make medical decisions for you if you are unable to do so.
Living Wills: documents that clearly
state your wishes as to life-prolonging medical care. For example, you might want your
Living Will to provide for you to live on life-support systems, if there is no hope of
recovery, or your Living Will may indicate you want to be kept alive under any
circumstances. This benefit is not available in Nova Scotia; Nova Scotias provincial
law currently does not recognize living wills.
You may have to mail or fax certain background
information to your Private Lawyer before the above documents can be prepared. |
